The Jews And Zionists As Humanoid Creatures – According To Iran’s Islamic Regime

Then-Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi: The Israelis And Jews Are „Humanoids… Who Look Human But Whose Hearts… Are Worse Than Those Of Animals”

In a speech rife with religious antisemitic and anti-Israeli rhetoric at a pro-Palestine demonstration in Tehran on October 18, 2023, less than two weeks after the October 7 Hamas attack, then-Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi called Israelis „inhuman humanoids” lower even than animals. Drawing on Islamic sources to justify his statements, Raisi linked the events in Gaza to the ideal of „destroying Israel” that is advanced by the Iranian regime, saying that Israel’s crimes in Gaza are bringing about its own end. This is in line with the predictions of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khamenei, the founder of Iran’s Islamic regime.

The following is a translation of the main points of Raisi’s speech:

„Today is a day of public mourning for the great Iranian nation, the nation of Islam and humanity, for the terrible crimes committed by humanoid people, who, according to Emir Al-Mu’minin [the Prophet Mohammad], look human but whose hearts are the hearts of animals, even worse than those of animals. Every drop of Palestinian blood spilled on the ground brings the Zionist regime one step closer to its downfall.

„Who would accept this terrible crime of killing women and children and attacking hospitals? Seventy-five years of occupation, oppression, violence, destruction of homes, killing of women and children, imprisonment and torture, seizure and invasion of agricultural lands – and in all this oppression they thought they could harm the rights of the Palestinian people with these atrocities…

„According to Holy Quran commentary, they have violated the covenant [with God] and were disloyal to the covenant… What is happening today in Palestine reminds us of the wise words of the Imam [Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini], who said that Palestine, and Jerusalem and its liberation, are the No. 1 issues of the Islamic world. Others may perhaps think that this is distant, but we believe that the liberation of Jerusalem will be soon.”[1]

Regime Mouthpiece Kayhan: The Jews And Zionists Are „Predatory Humanoid Creatures… Like Stray Dogs… Who Should Be Caged Far Away From Human Society”

The editorial in the regime mouthpiece Kayhan that same day, October 18, 2023, by its editor Hossein Shariatmadari, who is a close associate of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, argued that throughout history, Jews and Zionists have seen themselves as a superior race. Shariatmadari reiterated antisemitic motifs, calling Jews and Israelis „predatory humanoid creatures” who, like „stray dogs, must be caged in a fenced area” in order to protect the health and integrity of „human societies.”

The following is a translation of the main points of Shariatmadari’s editorial:

„Gideon Levy, the well-known [Israeli] journalist and Haaretz columnist, addressed, with his words [in a video] that sparked an extensive uproar online and continues to garner millions of views, important and essential points regarding the true identity of the Zionists. He said: 'I want to address three principles that allow us, Israelis, to live in peace despite the cruel existing reality.’ He then explained these three principles as follows – read them [below]!

„’The first principle is: Most, if not all, of us Israelis wholeheartedly believe that we are the chosen people, and therefore we have the right to do whatever we want! The second principle is: We set a record in the occupation, but never in history has there been an occupier casting himself as a victim! And not only as a victim, but as the only victim in the arena! This also allows us, Israelis, to live in peace despite the daily crimes, because we believe that we are the victims! The third principle, which is perhaps the most important and worst of all, is the organized dehumanization of non-Jews. We do not see non-Jews as human beings entitled to human rights(!). If we scratch the surface of the Israelis, we can find these three principles!’

„What Gideon Levy says about the Zionists’ tenets of faith is not 'analysis’ or a personal interpretation of it. It is an historical reality documented over millennia, and the history of the Jewish people constitutes unequivocal evidence of its truth. God’s words likewise emphasize this bitter reality. The explanation for this is that the Jews (the forefathers of today’s Zionists) claimed to be God’s chosen people (!). When asked why God chose the Jewish people out of all the nations and all of humanity, they replied that after He created them, God lost His capability (!) and cannot change what He had already decreed and decided (!)…

Kayhan editor Hossein Shariatmadari, close associate of Khamenei (Source: Fars, December 7, 2023)

„The Islamic world – more precisely, the followers of all non-Jewish religions and communities (read: the non-Zionists) – stand against these predatory humanoid creatures who see themselves as a superior race! In their eyes, vandalism, destruction, and slaughter of others are not only permissible, but are also their 'religious duty!’

„Creatures with such traits – in an apology to all dogs, even stray ones! – are like stray dogs and should be caged in a fenced area away from human society! The health and integrity of human societies demands that they not be among humans!

„It is not for nothing that Imam [Ayatollah Ruhollah] Khomeini said that 'Israel is a cancerous tumor,’ and stressed that 'Israel must be wiped off the face of the earth.’ And as the Supreme Leader [Khamenei] said, they [the Israelis] are 'stray dogs that attacked the oppressed Palestinian people…'”[2]

Then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad In 2010: „The Jews [Only] Look Human”

During his term as president (2005-2013), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was known for his antisemitic statements, also said that Jews only looked human. In a June 16, 2010 speech in the city of Shahr-e Kord, in west central Iran, he said: „Sixty years ago, they [the West] collected, from all corners of the world, the dirtiest and most criminal [elements] who [only] look human [i.e. the Jews]. They organized and armed them [in Palestine], on an artificial and mendacious pretext [i.e. the Holocaust]. They gave them propaganda and military backing so that they would occupy the lands of Palestine and uproot the Palestinian nation [from its land]…”[3]

In Antisemitic Speech In Hebrew And English On Iranian TV, Iranian Teen Girls Call For Israel’s Destruction: „The Zionists Appear Human In Form But Act Inhuman”

On February 7, 2025, Iranian state Channel 3 TV aired by Iranian teen girls speaking in Hebrew and English calling for Israel’s destruction, under the title „An Announcement From Iranian Girls To The Zionists.”

The girls were speaking at a cultural event to an audience of Iranian clerics and educators, against the backdrop of a giant banner featuring Iranian missiles being launched into Israel. The audience chanted „Death to Israel” and waved portraits of people, likely AI-generated, whom the regime claims were killed by Israel, among them Palestinian children. Also featured were photos of Iranian „martyrs,” including IRGC Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani, killed in a U.S. airstrike in January 2020.

In their speeches, the girls used antisemitic expressions and antisemitic ideas, saying, for example, in Hebrew that „the humanoid Zionists… [whose] forefathers did not succeed in extinguishing the light of God, also did not succeed [in doing so],” and, in English, „the Zionist look human but act inhumanly.” The speeches expressed the messianic idea of Iran’s Islamic regime, using rhetoric characteristic of the Iranian regime about „liberating the oppressed,” and maintained that the Israel-Gaza war had awakened the conscience of the world’s seekers of freedom, whom they called „the disciples of the Iranian regime” and had intensified the support for the „oppressed.” The girls went on to declare: „This unity and solidarity ensure the coming of the Messiah [the Shi’ite Mahdi] in the final days, whose coming will gladden the oppressed of the world; the criminals will be destroyed, the world will flourish, and the oppression will be over.”[4]

Presenting Jews And Zionists As Humanoid Creatures In Iranian Islamic Regime Cartoons

The perception of Jews and Zionists as „humanoid” is seen in many cartoons published by regime mouthpieces. The following are some examples.

The Zionist Jew As A Satanic Creature

A cartoon published January 5, 2024 by the Tasnim news agency, which is close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), titled „Killing Children in Gaza and Kerman [in Iran] Israeli-Style,” depicted a Satan-like figure with horns and a blue and white skullcap identifying it as Jewish and Zionist with an M-16 rifle on its back. The figure is seen to be directing „child killing operations” in Gaza and Kerman in Iran, shouting through a megaphone, „This is an ISIS operation.” The cartoon was published following the January 3, 2024 ISIS attack in the city of Kerman, Iran during a memorial ceremony on the anniversary of the killing of IRGC Qods Force commander Qassem Soleimani. The cartoon was captioned: „Israel ordered ISIS to take responsibility for the terrorist act in Kerman, when a few minutes after the terrorist act, statements by several officials and accounts affiliated with the Zionist regime proved the Zionist regime to be the main element in this crime against the people of Iran.”[5]

The Headless Israeli Monster

A cartoon published  by Tasnim on February 2, 2025 depicted Israel as a monstrous decapitated figure whose severed head, lying at its feet, is horned and has a Star of David on its forehead. Its hands and feet are clawed and it wears an American flag loincloth as it stands before the Palestinian boy who beheaded it with a sword. The text states: „The American barbarism of the Israeli regime against Gaza will fail. This American barbarism, which is being carried out by the Zionists against the Gaza Strip, is doomed to failure and will be unable to continue.”[6]

The Zionist As Murdering Monster

Another cartoon published by Tasnim, on March 24, 2024, labeled „The Zionist Is Crueler And More Despicable Than Jackals And Wild Beasts Of Prey,” showed a figure in an Israeli army uniform with an Israeli flag emerging from a building labeled „Al-Shifa” holding the body of a child, as even a jackal, a wolf, and a vulture as souls turned into angels fly off and the moon weeps. The cartoon was published against the backdrop of that month’s Israeli military operation against the Al-Shifa hospital complex in Gaza.[7]

The Jews As Demons, Satans, And Users Of Sorcery In Islamic Shi’ite And Persian Tradition

In Islamic Shi’ite folklore, sentient beings are divided into ina – human – and jinn – supernatural creatures with free will, who appear in the Quran. Jinns can be either good or evil, and the evil ones are likely to mislead humans. According to Shi’ite tradition, when the Hidden Iman, the Mahdi, appears, he will unite all the demons under his command as well.

Statements by senior Iranian regime officials and mouthpieces attributing demonic traits and sorcery capabilities to Jews and Zionists reflect a consistent worldview rooted in the ideology of Iran’s Islamic regime. Thus, for example, the idea of demons and sorcery is prominent in statements by Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei, who said on March 22, 2020 that „there are enemies who are demons and there are enemies who are human beings, and they help each other.”

Khamenei’s words were backed up by videos posted by the Telegram channel of the IRGC Cyber Division, which featured two senior clerics reinforcing statements about Israeli and American intelligence agencies’ use of demons (see MEMRI Special Dispatch N. 8658, IRGC Cyber Division Confirms Supreme Leader Khamenei’s Assertion That 'Demons Are Assisting The Enemies’ With Statements That 'The Israeli Mossad Is… Using Demons’ And 'The Jews Are Experts At Sorcery And At Creating Relationships With Demons,’ March 26, 2020).

Close associates of Khamenei argued that the Jews have sorcery abilities that they use against Iran. For example, in 2013, Mehdi Tayeb, who heads Iran’s Ammar Strategic Headquarters, claimed that the Jews have the strongest magical powers in the world and that they use them to attack Iran. That same year, the Rasa News website, which is close to Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh, the supreme religious institution in Iran that is responsible for ordaining Shi’ite clerics, published an article claiming that the Jews pass sorcery capabilities down from generation to generation in order to control the world, nature, and even God’s decisions (see MEMRI Special Dispatch No. 5288, Iranian Official: The Jews Use Sorcery Against Iran, April 28, 2013).

This world view is also reflected in an article published December 3, 2024 by the Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh website stating, inter alia, that Israel uses sorcery and demons for military and intelligence operations, such as discovering Hizbullah’s tunnels and eliminating leaders of the resistance. This magic, said the article, had been passed down throughout the generations by the Israelites (see below).

It should be noted that Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh is an integral part of the regime’s system of ideological control, and since the 1979 Islamic Revolution has served as a major tool for disseminating the regime doctrine of velayat-e faqih, the Rule of the Jurisprudent.

In Hit Iranian TV Show Imam Ali, Jews And Zionists Are Depicted As Creatures Who Practice Sorcery

A visual representation of the Shi’ite-Iranian perception that Jews are creatures who only appear human and who practice sorcery can be seen in the hit Iranian TV show Imam Ali. The show, that first aired in 1996, was recently remastered and rerun during the month of Ramadan 2025. The first episode of the series opens with a scene of a Jewish sorcerer character wearing a black skullcap. He is ugly and grotesque – wild orange hair, a long crooked nose, broken and blackened teeth, a distorted face, and frightening and evil mannerisms. He performs magic, turning a man into a dog and then back into a man and turning a shoe into a pigeon, all before a laughing Muslim audience. His appearance is clearly drawn from established antisemitic images, especially those found in Nazi propaganda.

Notably, the antisemitic segment appears at the beginning of the first episode, emphasizing that the creators of the show are placing this negative depiction of the Jew front and center – it is not a minor or secondary plot detail, but rather the ideological keystone in the opening of what is presented as a formative text of the Islamic Republic. The presence of such a character at the heart of a work that is central to the political and religious culture of Iran reflects how deeply antisemitic ideas inform the official cultural discourse in Iran.

The series was government funded and produced by the Iranian Broadcasting Authority, which as noted began airing it on its channels in 1996. It focuses on the last five years in the life of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, who was the fourth Caliph and the first Imam according to the Shi’a. The series depicts Ali’s time as caliph, focusing on the era’s political and religious landscape, including disputes among the Muslims, internal conflicts, and fighting over the leadership of the Muslim nation following the death of Mohammad. The production featured about 150 actors and over 5,000 extras, and is considered to be one of largest, most involved, and most prestigious productions in the history of Iranian television. The show received many accolades for its direction, sets, casting, and acting, and is still considered one of the most important and influential pieces of television content broadcast in Iran. The series was recently remastered to 4K and was aired on Iran’s Channel 1 during Ramadan 2025, as a counterbalance to the Saudi historical drama series Muawiya.[8]

Top Iranian Islamic Scholar Mustafa Karami: Demons Act As Zionists’ „Secret Army”; „It Is A Fact That The Jews Have Had Access To Demons, And The Ability To Enslave Them, From The Time Of King Solomon, And Their Use [Of Demons] Is Documented Throughout History”

On September 30, 2024, Mostafa Karami, a cleric and lecturer at Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh, the seminary for training Shi’ite Islamic scholars, told the Iranian Broadcasting Authority in an interview that „the Zionists and Jews use demons as a secret army in carrying out covert missions.” He suggested that such forces could have assisted in the September 27, 2024 assassination of Hizbullah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah. Karami claimed that there are historical accounts of Jews enlisting demons for military and intelligence purposes. The following is a translation of his main points:

„Based on the Zionists’ history of enslaving demons, and especially the [use of demons] by their leading rabbis since the time of King David and Wise Solomon, they possess knowledge in the domain [of enslaving demons]. There is no doubt that they carry out many operations in this way, with demons acting as their secret army. It is entirely possible that this capability was used in recent events [i.e. the killing of Nasrallah, and the July 2024 killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran]… The Supreme Leader [Khamenei] even recited, during COVID-19, the Quran verse stating that the involvement of demons in the enemy’s employ is not out of the question.

„It is a fact that the Jews have had access to demons, and the ability to enslave them, from the time of King Solomon, and their use [of demons] is documented throughout history. They have used demons throughout history to carry out actions and operations, and for intelligence. Nevertheless, when it comes to the assassination of the master of the resistance [Nasrallah] one must examine the extent to which demons were actually involved…”[9]

Islamic Scholar At Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh: „The Zionist Army Used Powers Such As Demons To Locate The Tunnels Of Hizbullah And The Palestinian Resistance And Assassinate Their Leaders”; „A Group Of The Israelites Passed Down What They Had Learned In The Area Of Sorcery From Generation To Generation”

On December 3, 2024, the Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh website published an article by Shi’ite scholar and lecturer Mahmoud Javadi. The article discusses the connection between the occult, demons, and sorcery and modern life and warfare, focusing on the ties between Israel/the Jews and the supernatural and occult. Claiming that Israeli leaders, acting on the recommendation of rabbis, are employing the occult sciences and demons in order to, for example, locate Hizbullah’s tunnels and assassinate the leaders of the Palestinian resistance, it also argued that the Jews’ knowledge of sorcery has been passed down through the generations. The following is a translation of the article’s main points:

„The Zionist Army Uses Metaphysical, Magical Powers, Such As Demons, In Pursuit Of [Its] Intelligence And Military Objectives”

„In today’s modern world, man’s knowledge has advanced so much that nearly nothing remains hidden from him, and important secrets from the far corners of the earth become public knowledge, so easily that the situation is becoming frightening. On the other hand, the use of strange sciences in combination with today’s human knowledge has made the situation even scarier…

„The reemergence of phenomena of strange sciences like sorcery… is an indication that very important events are happening in the life of man, their purpose being to mislead people from the path of faith and knowledge, and to stop them from aligning with the believers. Therefore, the superpowers who have access to experts in the field of strange sciences are trying to use this phenomenon for their own wicked ends. Today, these powers who understand the importance of strange sciences use them to obtain their evil goals and reach their satanic objectives.

„The use of magic and sorcery is at its most dangerous when used in politics and war, and the traces of demons are detected. Therefore, concerns around the military use of sorcery and metaphysical powers are not entirely disproved. Recent reports on this topic point to the Zionist army, which uses sorcery and metaphysical powers such as demons in pursuit of its intelligence and military objectives.

The use of secret sciences in political matters: For instance, one may mention the call of some Zionist extremists and Netanyahu supporters to hold a pulsa denura ritual to curse and pray for the death of Naftali Bennet, Netanyahu’s rival and potential prime minister of the Zionist regime [Naftali Bennet did indeed receive such threats, in April 2013 and June 2021]. The rarely used ritual of pulsa denura is carried out by rabbis against someone they wish dead. [It involves] black magic or prayer, and its practitioners believe that by reading sections of the Babylonian Talmud (one of books of rabbinical Judaism) they can stop the angels from praying for the person in question, and send him to his death. The execution of this ritual has not been documented in reliable sources prior to the 20th century. Over the last century, it was mainly carried out by radical Zionists against political figures. Notably, the pulsa denura ritual [was carried out against] Itzhak Rabin, the prime minister of the Zionist regime between 1992-1995 [who was assassinated in November 1995] The radical Zionists who were angry about the signing of the Oslo Accords with the Palestinians carried out the pulsa denura curse ritual against Itzhak Rabin, and a month later, he was shot dead by a radical Zionist…

„These days we are hearing many reports about the Zionist army having used magical and metaphysical powers such as demons in order to locate the tunnels of Hizbullah and the Palestinian resistance and to assassinate the leaders of the Palestinian resistance and Hizbullah, and some experts neither reject nor confirm this.

„At the same time, in this context, the Daily Telegraph stated in a report that the Zionist army used a rabbi to find the Hizbullah tunnels. In the same context, the Times of Israel wrote: [Israeli] army officers were surprised at the capability of the rabbi who found the tunnels without any equipment and without using intelligence reports. The rabbi, 'Yehuda,’ had worked in the past for the army and the police, but after 2016 when the military command refused to employ him, he sparked a protest among religious Jews. Although the army recently discovered dozens of tunnels, it has refraining from acknowledging the connection between the discovery of the tunnels and 'Yehuda.’

„The Zionists are very active in and interested in metaphysics and the supernatural, and sometimes, in some old videos and even in new ones, some rabbis have recommended to political and military elements to use the strange sciences and metaphysical powers to achieve the political and military goals of the Zionist regime.

„A Hizbullah soldier they captured said that thanks to previous training, he had resisted throughout all the stages of his investigation, and the lie detectors, successfully, [but that] when it came to the issue of demons, they greatly pressured him with metaphysical powers. In order to confirm the aforementioned issue, i.e. the cooperation between demons and humans in the enemies’ intelligence work and military operations, the Supreme Leader [Khamenei] referred in one of his speeches to the enemies of the Islamic Republic and explained the demon-human collaboration in the security agencies of Western countries and the Mossad…

Photo from the Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh article captioned „The Zionists engage a great deal in metaphysics and the supernatural, and express great interest in it…” (Source: Howzeh-ye Elmiyyeh, December 3, 2024)

Demons from a Quranic point of view: In Islamic texts, non-material powers, including demons, are recognized, but there is no direct reference to their use by humans in wars. However, in some of the stories, instances of demons turning to prophets and imams were cited. Also, the Quran clearly informs us of the existence of demons and of their role in some important issues in human life, and even in the lives of the prophets. In the story of the prophet Solomon, one of the demons (Ifrit) says that he can bring him the throne of the Queen of Sheba before he can even get up out of his chair…

„In this verse, it is clear that demons have powers and that the prophet [King] Solomon had the ability to communicate with them. According to other [Quran] verses, the prophet Solomon conquered the evil demons and asked them for help in works such as construction and diving in the depths of the oceans. But the ability to conquer demons was also not widespread and was given specially by God to the prophet Solomon…

„A Group Of The Israelites Passed Down What They Had Learned In The Area Of Sorcery From Generation To Generation – And Even Today They Have Entangled Humanity In Their Evil Plans In These Strange Sciences”

The prevalence of sorcery among the Israelites: It is said that during the time of Solomon, a group [of Israelites] engaged in sorcery, and he ordered that all their writings be collected and kept in a [specific] place. After the death of Solomon, a group of people found the writings and began to study magic. They said: Solomon was not a prophet [but] ruled his land with magic and carried out supernatural acts. A group of the Israelites followed them and passed down what they had learned in the area of sorcery from generation to generation, and even today they have entangled humanity in their evil plans in these strange sciences…

„Communicating with demons who can teach humans strange sciences demands that people turn their back on the true religion, engage in perverted acts, and insult the sacred. This means that a heavy price must be paid to acquire these sciences. The demons who teach these sciences to people are heretics and agents of Satan, and they have no other purpose than to attack believers and the servants of God. People who have been infected from… this dark world cannot easily rid themselves of it.

„The Messenger of God [the Prophet Mohammad] says: Whoever goes to a sorcerer or a magician or a liar and believes in his words does not believe in the book that God has brought down [i.e. the Quran]. Imam Ali also said about the study of sorcery: 'Whoever learns a little or a lot of magic becomes an infidel and departs from the divine covenant, and must be killed unless he repents.’

„The Spells And Magic That Destroy Homes… And All The Enmity And Incitement Ignited Among The Streams Of Islam, Are Both Surely Of Israeli Origin”

„The spells and magic that destroy homes and that are being promoted today in Iran and other Muslim countries, and all the enmity and incitement ignited among the streams of Islam, are both surely of Israeli origin – and we must be fully aware of and alert to this. The pushing of the young people, single and married, towards the dark world of magic, spells, and strange sciences is another kind of battle that the enemies are [waging] with us, and its damage is no less than the damage of cannons and bullets fired at us. Therefore, we must face it vigilantly and be prepared for new wars that are a combination of modern weapons, strange sciences, and metaphysical powers, and go out to battle with the demons with the weapon of alertness and faith.”[10]
